Well, I hope all you crazy AR-15 owners had a Safe and Happy 4th of July! I wanted to tell you all about a pretty cool new product for all of the Magpul fans. Many of you have probably at some point looked into buying the Magpul M.O.E. buttstock for your rifle but may have decided against it as it lacks some of the features that the higher level stocks have like a QD Sling Attachment.

Impact Weapon Components (IWC) has built their business on being able to see these deficiencies and creating an innovative and inexpensive solution to the problem. They have just added to their MOUNT-N-SLOT lineup a QD Sling Attachment designed especially for the Magpul M.O.E. AR-15 buttstock. It fits neatly towards the rear of the buttstock in one of the webbing slots. This is definitely worth checking out if you are wishing you had a QD attachment point on your Magpul M.O.E. stock or are considering it as your next upgrade. Check out what IWC has to say about their product and some pictures below!

IWC’s QD Rotation Limited Sling MOUNT-N-SLOT for Magpul Industries M.O.E. Buttstock is now available from IMPACT WEAPONS COMPONENTS

Many manufacturers are including the M.O.E. line of components as standard equipment on their AR platform rifles, including, S&W M&P, Bushmaster M.O.E. and Noveske’s 14.5″ SKINNY CARBINE.

Previously, customers and LE Departments who purchase these rifles are not able to attach the popular Push Button Quick Detach Sling Swivels to their rifles because the M.O.E. Buttstock does not include a built-in QD Socket. If they wanted a QD Socket, they needed to purchase a separate Rear Receiver or Buffer Tube installed QD adaptor, or, replace the M.O.E. Buttstock entirely with another buttstock, say a CTR by Magpul.

So IWC designed our PATENT PENDING QD Rotation Limited Sling MOUNT-N-SLOT for Buttstocks to be a user-installed, cost effective solution to this problem. Compare these alternative solutions to IWC’s QD Rotation Limited Sling MOUNT-N-SLOT for Buttstocks.

Intro to MOUNT-N-SLOT
MOUNT-N-SLOT is a part of Impact Weapons Components (IWC) making drop in attachments for Magpul MOE, VTAC/JP Inc. and some other handguard systems. They are design to offer a more slipstreamed mounting option for lights, slings and similar attachments for AR15 and similar rifles. They caught my eye over on M4carbine.net as a few members posted T&E products before they were out yet...looked like the best thing for mounting stuff to MOE handguards so I had to give them a try...
First Impressions
I ordered direct from IWC's store, the unit price was $32.95. Checkout was easy enough, they use a Yahoo store and you can checkout with Google checkout and a few other similar options for those who do that...certainly a convenience for some including myself. About a week after ordering (only 3-4 business days) I did get an email saying the parts were backordered but should be shipping out very soon. Not a huge deal, I don't mind a wait. I placed the order LATE Thursday Jan 27th, received the order in the mail today (Feb 12th). So about two weeks total, plus shipping typically takes 4-5 business days. Anyways, package came today shipped in a USPS small flat rate box. Inside were two smaller boxes (I ordered two things). Here is how it is packaged (with AA battery for size comparison):
Opened up (notice installation directions):
Sling mount itself:
Back of package/mount, notice installation tool and where it was made (no Chinese crap here):
Also inside the package was an invoice, which had a hand written note from Earl, the 'guy in charge':
If you can't read that, I was refunded the shipping charges because they went out late. Completely unnecessary however still a great gesture. What a great way to start things off...it seems as if these guys really care about the customer.
The mount, all by it's lonesome:
Installation
Installation was stupid easy. Put the mount over the slot in the handguards where you want it to be, then install the two supplied bolts. That's it...you're done. If you can't do it you probably should be living in a padded room.
Here it is once installed:
