Event description

This race offers a symmetrical one-loop swim course in the crystal clear water of Lake Zurich. After the 3.8k swim portion, a spectacular bike course leads you through the city center and then out of town along the lake shore; 30km later on the bike you wouldn’t think there was a city even close by. For the next hour, athletes ride along grazing lands, past small villages, and over the rolling countryside of Zurich. The two climbs, 'The Beast' and 'Heartbreak Hill,' are lined with spectators cheering and ringing cow bells. The newly designed multifaceted four-loop run course takes athletes through downtown Zurich. They will run down the world-famous Bahnhofstrasse and through beautiful alleys. After passing the town's landmarks and the historic buildings, they will run back along the shores of Lake Zurich.

IRONMAN Switzerland is the second oldest IRONMAN in Europe after Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, on the Spanish Canary Island, and the oldest on the European continent. Thun, a city of 45,000 inhabitants, and located approximately 130 kilometres to the southwest of Zurich, has expressed its interest to host an IRONMAN event for a number of years. Volunteer package

All volunteers are provided with IRONMAN Race Crew gear and food and drinks during their assignment. As an additional thank you we offer IRONMAN backpacks or a small financial compensation.

Ironman Zurich Switzerland 2010, powered by ewz, is fully booked! Online registration for the Ironman Zurich Switzerland on the 10th of July 2011, will open on Monday, 26th July 2010 on www.ironman.ch.

Deregistration:
Terms and conditions of the organiser regarding the reimbursement:
Until 31st of Jan. 2010: 50 % reimbursement
From 1st of Feb. 2010 until 30th of April 2010: 25 % reimbursement
From 1st of May 2010: no reimbursement
The terms and conditions, listed above, apply to all cases, i.e. injuries. business appointments and others. These reimbursement conditions apply also for the entries at the Welcome Party and the Awards Banquet.

The organiser reserves the right to reject your registration with or without justification. The starting slot cannot be passed on the another person nor can it be transferred to next year.

Prize money
The first 5 men and women in the Pro category will receive prize money as long as they cross the finish line within +8% of the time of the winning athlete.
The prize money of US$ 50'000.– will be distributed equally to the men and women as follows:

The first three athletes of all age groups will receive material prizes.
The prizes must be collected in person at the prize giving ceremony. No prizes can be sent by post.

Age Groups / Qualification Hawaii
Ironman Zurich Switzerland, powered by ewz, will issue 75 starting slots for the Ford Ironman World Championship Kona (Hawaii, USA), 9th Ocotber 2010.
The qualification attained is only valid for the Ford Ironman World Championship 2010. Because not all athletes who have the right to a starting slot in Hawaii can or wish to start in Hawaii, the slots in the various age groups will be shifted downwards until the last qualification slot has been issued. The organiser, resp. the WTC (World Triathlon Corporation) retains the final right of decision concerning the issuing of qualification slots.

The allocation of the slots in categories is also dependant on the number of the actual bookings and is definitive only upon receipt of the last registrations.
The slot for Professional athletes will only be allocated to athletes who cross the finish line within +5% of the time of the winning athlete.
